Monthly Competition — Terms & Conditions

The rules of the Awake Protocol monthly leaderboard competition.

1. Organiser

This competition ("Competition") is run by Awake Media Agency ("we", "us", the "Organiser"), [CONFIRM: registered name & company/registration number], of [CONFIRM: physical address, Cape Town, South Africa]. Questions: byron@awakemediaagency.com.

These terms are available free of charge at this page for the duration of the Competition, as required by section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act.

2. Competition period

The Competition runs in rounds. The launch round runs from the launch date until 23:59 on 31 August 2026 (SAST, UTC+2). From 1 September 2026, rounds run monthly — each starting at 00:00 on the first day and ending at 23:59 on the last day of a calendar month, South African Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2). A separate prize is awarded for each round. The Organiser may add, pause or end rounds at its discretion (see clause 13).

3. Eligibility

• Open to natural persons who are 18 years or older and resident in South Africa [CONFIRM: territory].
• Directors, members, employees and agents of the Organiser, and their immediate families, may not win a prize.
• One entry/account per person. Creating multiple accounts to gain an advantage is prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
• By entering, you confirm you meet these requirements and accept these terms.

4. How to enter

• No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Entry is free.
• Download or open Awake Protocol, create an account by providing your name, email address and contact number, and play the game.
• Your ranking is based on your highest cumulative score achieved during the monthly round, as recorded on the in-game "This Month" leaderboard.
• Free-entry route — no purchase necessary. From 1 September 2026 a paid "Awake Protocol Club" membership (R20 per month) is planned. Whether or not you subscribe, you may enter and compete for the prize free of charge: simply sign up with your name, email and contact number and play. A free entry carries an equal chance of winning to a paid one — free and paying members appear on the same "This Month" leaderboard and the prize goes to the highest-ranked eligible entrant regardless of whether they paid. 5. Prize

The prize for the launch round (to 31 August 2026) is R1,500 (one thousand five hundred Rand). For monthly rounds from 1 September 2026, the prize is R3,000 (three thousand Rand). The prize is paid to the single highest-ranked eligible entrant on the "This Month" leaderboard at the close of that round. One prize is awarded per round. The prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for its cash-equivalent alternative except as stated [CONFIRM].

6. Determining the winner

At the end of each round the eligible entrant at position 1 on the "This Month" leaderboard wins. If two or more entrants are tied, the entrant who reached that score first (earliest timestamp) wins. The Organiser's determination, acting reasonably, is final.

7. Notifying & claiming

• The winner will be contacted using the email address and/or phone number on their account within [CONFIRM: e.g. 5] business days of the round closing.
• To claim, the winner must respond within [CONFIRM: e.g. 14] days and provide proof of identity and South African banking details for payment.
• If a winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, or does not claim within the period, the Organiser may award the prize to the next eligible entrant or carry it over [CONFIRM].

8. Payment

The prize is paid by electronic funds transfer to the winner's South African bank account within [CONFIRM: e.g. 30] days of verifying the claim. The Organiser is not responsible for details provided incorrectly by the winner.

9. Fairness Policy

Awake Protocol is a game of skill. To keep the monthly competition fair for everyone, all players agree to the following Fairness Policy when they sign up:

1. Play it yourself. Only scores achieved by you personally, playing the game normally, are eligible. Accounts must use your real name and contact details.
2. One account per person. Creating multiple accounts, or signing up on behalf of others, to gain an advantage is prohibited.
3. No cheating or automation. Bots, scripts, auto-clickers, macros, memory or speed hacks, modified clients, or any tool that plays or inflates scores on your behalf are prohibited.
4. No tampering. Interfering with the game, its network requests, the scoring system, or the leaderboard — or exploiting a bug to gain scores you would not otherwise achieve — is prohibited. If you find a bug, please report it to byron@awakemediaagency.com instead of exploiting it.
5. Scoring & safeguards. Your competition ranking is your accumulative score for the current month (the sum of your games that calendar month), which resets at the start of each month. To protect the board, the game applies automated safeguards including a per-game maximum score and a limit on how frequently scores can be submitted. Scores that exceed these limits are rejected.
6. Review of unusual scores. The Organiser reviews unusually high scores before any prize is paid. A score being reviewed does not by itself mean wrongdoing, and the Organiser may, acting reasonably, clear it or request more information.
7. Consequences. Where the Organiser reasonably suspects a breach of this policy, it may remove the affected scores, disqualify the entrant from the current and/or future rounds, and withhold or reclaim any prize. The Organiser will act reasonably and, where practical, give the player an opportunity to respond.
8. Decisions. Fairness decisions are made by the Organiser acting reasonably and in good faith to protect the integrity of the competition. [CONFIRM: whether decisions are final, and any appeal/contact route — attorney to confirm wording against CPA §36.]

Current safeguard level (stated honestly): scores are checked with automated caps and rate-limits and are reviewed manually before payout; deeper server-authoritative verification may be added over time. [CONFIRM: keep this description accurate as anti-cheat evolves.]

10. Publicity & personal information

The in-game leaderboard displays entrants by first name and surname initial only. By entering you consent to this display. The Organiser will process your personal information in line with its Privacy Policy and POPIA. The Organiser may announce the winner's first name and surname initial; any further publicity requires the winner's separate consent.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Organiser is not liable for any loss or damage arising from participation, from technical faults, connectivity issues, lost or delayed entries, or from the game being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Tax

The winner is responsible for any tax that may arise from receiving the prize and should seek their own advice.

13. Changes & cancellation

The Organiser may amend these terms or suspend or cancel the Competition where reasonably necessary (for example, for legal, technical or fairness reasons). Material changes will be posted on this page.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts. You may also refer competition complaints to the National Consumer Commission.
